Sajjhaa by far the Best
King's Best’s daughter Sajjhaa has certainly thrived since travelling to Dubai and on 21 February the Godolphin mare made it two G2 victories from as many starts at Meydan when cruising home in the 1800m Balanchine.
Settled in an ideal position just off the pace under Silvestre de Sousa while stablemate Dark Orchid pressed the pace ahead, Sajhaa took up the running once entering the home straight and ran on superbly to hold the late challenge of Prussian and win by a length. Odds-on favourite and South African Champion Igugu was a further three-and-a-quarter lengths back in third.
Sajjhaa, who has now won on seven occasions, may now return to Europe, before a possible trip to North America for the latter part of the season.
Bred by Darley, she is out of the winning Darshaan mare Anaamil, herself a daughter of G3 winner and G1 Epsom Oaks third Noushkey.
King’s Best, who is standing at Darley in Japan for the first time this year at a fee of 1.5 million yen, is also sire of seven G1 winners including outstanding Epsom Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Workforce, and Eishin Flash, winner of the Japan Derby and Tenno Sho.
