Yoshida sired a new Group winner on Sunday, 15 September when his second-crop son Santuario posted a convincing victory in the G2 Clasico Polla de Potrilos at Monterrico racecourse in Peru.
Breaking smartly from the stalls, Santuario was soon in front and was still in the lead approaching the home straight. Challenged close to home by the favourite Magic Power, Santuario battled superbly and then pulled away from the fast-finishing Millennial Boy to win the 1,600m dirt contest by two lengths.
Santuario was foaled in the US and made a winning debut over 1,000m on 29 June before going on to win the Listed Clasico Hipodromo de San Felipe on 11 August.
Yoshida’s first foals hit the racecourse in 2023 and have made a superb impression so far. He is the sire of 34 first-crop winners to date including fellow G2 winner Grey Yoshi, while his second crop has produced six winners so far.
