New Group winner for King's Best
Gengis takes the G3 Prix de Fontainebleau in France
King's Best, new to Japan this season, sired his 27th individual Group winner when his three-year-old son Gengis won the Prix de Fontainebleau, a noted trial for the Poule d'Essai des Poulains. A stakes winning juvenile, he has now won four of his six starts.
Bred by EDY S.R.L., Gengis is the second winner out of the Green Desert mare Ashiyna, a sister to French 2,000 Guineas winner Ashkalani.
King's Best stands this season for 1.5 million yen, and has sired a total of 27 Group winners. Amongst his leading performers are Derby hero Workforce, Eishin Flash, who won the Japanese Derby in 2010 and last seasons Tenno Sho (Autumn), and this seasons unbeaten multiple G1-winning mare Sajjhaa.
