Snowdon, by Darley stallion Admire Moon, broke his maiden on Sunday October 16, when victorious at Niigata. Facing a slightly easier task than on his first two starts, he won decisively by two-and-a-half lengths with five back to the third, in this 2000m turf contest.
Bred by Darley Japan and owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al Maktoum, Snowdon is the second living foal of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Snow Lynx, a half-sister to U.S. G1-winner Snow Ridge. Snow Lynx is currently in foal to fellow Darley Japan stallion Pyro.
Snowdon becomes Admire Moon’s eleventh individual winner with this triumph. Amongst those ten are the unbeaten G3-winner Fine Choice, Leo Active, a fine third in the Listed Dahlia Sho at Niigata, and number of impressive Maiden winners including Golden Moon, Lorbeerkranz and Red Irving.
