One of 38 international Stakes winners for her leading sire Commands, Kanzan showed her affliation with the Hawkesbury track in Australia, winning her second Stakes race over the course and distance on April 30.
Settling mid-field, jockey Corey Brown allowed the mare to find her feet before working down the middle of the track to defeat stablemates Screen and Dysphonia – giving owner Sheikh Mohammed and trainer Peter Snowden a one-two-three finish in the race.
Having recorded the quinella in last year’s race with Lonhro mares Serenissima and Reniassance, Snowden indicated that the mares would followed a similar path and head towards the Listed Dark Jewel Quality at Scone in a few weeks time.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Kanzan is out of the winning Grand Lodge Cherry Lodge and is a half-sister to the G3 performer Giresun, from the family of Stakes horse Liberty Rose, Liberty Hall, Tantra and Elusive Wonder.
Standing the forthcoming breeding season at Darley Australia's Kelvinside property at a fee of $66,000 (inc GST) after covering his second season in Japan, Commands has recorded 11 individual Stakes winners internationally this season and also leads the gerneral sires table by winners in Australia.
