Darley stallion Admire Moon sired his first ever winner on Tuesday June 21, when his daughter Mahogany broke her Maiden in a 1000m newcomers race on the Monbetsu dirt track. Always travelling well, she asserted at the top of the straight to record a comfortable success.
Bred by Hidenori Sakai in Shin Hidaka-cho, she is a daughter of the winning Gone West mare Morouj, herself a daughter of the G3-winning juvenile Chicarica. Morouj unfortunately died this year after delivering a full-brother to Mahogany, who was born on March 31.
Admire Moon stands at Darley Japan for a fee of 3.5 million yen and was a racehorse of the highest calibre. He was a G3-winning juvenile before winning three Group races as a three-year-old. At four, he was crowned Horse of the Year in Japan after winning the Japan Cup and Takarazuka Kinen as well as taking a high-class renewal of the G1 Dubai Duty Free in Dubai. Supported by many of Japan's top breeders in his first three seasons at stud, he first-crop race this season.
