Reload rules in G3 Canadian Turf Stakes
Reload, a son of Hard Spun, earned his first Graded Stakes win February 22 with an exciting score in the G3 Canadian Turf Stakes at Gulfstream. It was the second win in the row for the five-year-old, who took an Allowance over the course January 17.
In the one-mile turf race, the Phipps homebred tucked just behind leaders in third position. In the stretch, Reload slipped along the inside to take on the lead and battled in the stretch before coming away a winner.
Reload is out of the Graded Stakes-placed Mr. Prospector mare Hidden Reserve, who has produced two other Graded Stakes winners in Philanthropist and Defer. Hidden Reserve is a half-sister to Champion Inside Information and a full-sister to multiple G1 winner Educated Risk. The mare has a two-year-old colt by Medaglia d'Oro.
Reload marks the eighth Graded Stakes winner for Hard Spun, who sired two G1 winners in his first crop - Eclipse Champion Questing and G1 Mother Goose Stakes winner Zo Impressive. A son of Danzig, Hard Spun has been represented by 26 Stakes winners around the world.
