An undefeated Stakes winner at two, Hard Spun won all three of his juvenile starts by a combined 22 lengths. As a three year old he won an unforgettable G1 King’s Bishop, America’s premier 7-furlong race, and finished second to fellow Darley stallion Street Sense in the G1 Kentucky Derby. With the versatility to also run at Classic distances, Hard Spun finished on the board in all three of America’s Triple Crown races and was heroic once again when second in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic of 2007.
As a stallion, Hard Spun has been a phenomenal success. In 2012 he sired Eclipse Champion Questing and G1 winner Zo Impressive. Hard Spun is now the sire of 23 Stakes winners from his first two crops, including Someries who won the Zen-Nihon Nisai Yushun in Japan in 2012.
A magnificent son of Danzig, an all-time great sire of sires, Hard Spun has been very well supported by breeders in Kentucky and received his best book of mares in 2013.
