Silverette shines in Red Cross Stakes
Four-year-old Street Sense filly Silverette dominated in the Red Cross Stakes May 27 at Monmouth Park to become her sire's tenth Stakes winner to date. In the six-furlong race Silverette positioned herself in a stalking position in second. At the quarter pole she took on the lead and powered home in the stretch for an effortless score.
A $290,000 yearling, Silverette finished a narrow second in the Gold Princess Stakes last time out at Belmont. Bred by Grousemont Farm, the filly is out of Holy Lightning, who has also produced millionaire Graded Stakes winner Going Ballistic. Silverette's second dam is Stakes winner Blazing Hot.
The sensational Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby hero, Street Sense is off to a fantastic start at stud. He has been represented by five Graded Stakes winners from his first crop, among them G1 Humana Distaff winner Aubby K. Following in this success, his second crop is headlined by multiple Graded Stakes winner Unlimited Budget.
