Darley stallion Storming Home sired his fifth individual Black type winner on 21 November when his two-year-old son Lion Tamer made a spectacular racecourse debut, winning the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes at Pukekohe in New Zealand.
Racing at the rear of the field, Lion Tamer flew home to record victory in the NZ$60,000 contest by a long neck from Sirrio.
Bred by P H P Bayley, Lion Tamer is out of the Generous mare Lioness, who is herself a granddaughter of three-time G1 winner Blue Denim.
Storming Home has now sired seven Black type performers in 2009, including Godolphin’s Flying Cloud, who won the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes at this year’s Royal meeting at Ascot.
