New Group winner for Fantastic Light

Fantastic Pick lands the G2 Oak Tree Derby in California

Fantastic Light, whose first Japanese runners have already begun to make a good impression with no fewer than eight of them winning to date, continues to add Black type to his record courtesy of his earlier crops and on 17 October, Fantastic Pick became his sire’s 13th individual Group winner when taking the G2 Oak Tree Derby at Hollywood Park.

Settled in second position, the three-year-old travelled well throughout the nine-furlong contest and came with a perfectly-timed late run to catch the pacesetter Blue Panis close to the line and win by a head.

Bred by Star Pointe Limited, Fantastic Pick is out of the Mtoto mare Umlilo, a half-sister to four Black type performers including the G2 winner and G1-placed Miss Keller. They are from the family of Inchinor.

Fantastic Light has now sired ten individual Black type performers in 2010, including the G2 winner and G1-placed Brilliant Light, plus multiple G3 winner Tottie.
