Balthazaar’s Gift has been a wonderful campaigner for his sire Xaar and on 11 September, he recorded his ninth career victory and fourth at Group level when coming with his customary late run to land the seven-furlong G2 Park Stakes at Doncaster in the UK.
Held up towards the rear of the field, the seven-year-old entire was switched to the stands’ side with a furlong left to run and burst to the front to win more comfortably than the half-length margin would suggest.
A G2 winner as a juvenile, Balthazaar’s Gift was second in the G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at three and was G1-placed again at four when third in the Sprint Cup. He has won or placed on no fewer than 23 occasions and has now amassed over half a million pounds (73 million yen) in prize money.
Bred by Pat Beirne, he is out of the Last Tycoon mare Thats Your Opinion.
Xaar has sired ten individual Black type performers this year, including multiple Stakes winner Joku and G1 colt Xtension.
