Four-year-old Admire Moon colt Fine Needle added his sixth career win and a first at Group level on Sunday, 10 September with victory in the G2 Centaur Stakes at Hanshin.
Fine Needle was settled in third during the early stages of the six-furlong contest before moving forwards around the bend. He ran on superbly to win by a length and a quarter and will now head for the G1 Sprinters Stakes next month.
He becomes the second winner of this race for Admire Moon, following Hakusan Moon’s victory in 2013.
Fine Needle is one of five winners out of multiple Group winner Needlecraft (Mark Of Esteem), who is herself a half-sister to G2 Prix Dollar winner Fractional (who is by fellow Darley stallion Manduro).
Admire Moon, the triple G1-winning Horse of the Year and Japan Cup hero, has sired 13 individual Black Type winners and a further 15 horses who have placed at Stakes level. They are headed by Seiun Kosei, winner of this year’s G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen.
