Darley Japan announces stud fees for the 2010 breeding season
Darley has announced the stud fees of its nine stallions for the 2010 breeding season.
The roster is led by one of Australia's best stallions, Commands (pictured), who will shuttle to Japan for the first time in 2010. Proven G1 sire Commands has enjoyed another successful year recording no fewer than 21 black type performers including brilliant G1 winners Purple and Russeting. From one of the world's best families, the son of Danehill and grandson of priceless broodmare Eight Carat has sired a further two G1 winners and ten Group winners. Commands will stand at a fee of ¥5 million.
One of the most exciting stallion prospects to come to Japan in many years is Pyro. The handsome record-breaking G1 winner and top-class miler swept to victory in this year's G1 Forego Stakes and was also placed in the G1 Travers Stakes and G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He is the first son of emerging sire of sires Pulpit to stand in Japan and offers breeders a complete outcross pedigree free of Sunday Silence blood. Pyro will stand at a fee of ¥2 million.
Last year's champion three-year-old and Japanese Derby winner Deep Sky will stand at a fee of ¥3.5 million. In 2008 Deep Sky used his triumph in the G1 NHK Mile Cup as a stepping stone to a breathtaking victory in Japan's premier Classic, the Derby. The dual G1 winner is the best son of the outstanding stallion Agnes Tachyon, whose death earlier this year proved a significant loss to the Japanese bloodstock industry.
John Ferguson, Sheikh Mohammed's Bloodstock Advisor said, "The stallion operation in Japan is going from strength to strength. It gives Sheikh Mohammed great satisfaction to be involved in the racing and breeding industry and standing both Commands and Pyro as new international sires for 2010 is proof of Darley's commitment to the Japanese industry."
Ferguson continued, "Sheikh Mohammed is excited by the prospect of racing with an international owners license and would like to take this opportunity to thank the JRA and the Japanese owners and breeders for their support. He is determined to make a positive contribution."
