Cigar Street takes charge in G3 Skip Away Stakes
Street Sense colt Cigar Street took home his first Graded Stakes victory March 30 when favored in Gulfstream's G3 Skip Away Stakes. It was third win in a row for the colt, who previously posted back-to-back Allowance wins over the Gulfstream track.
Stalking the pace in third in the one and three-sixteenth mile event, Cigar Street patiently held position until the far turn. Coming for home he moved up to take the lead, and then battled in the stretch to prove best.
A four-year-old, Cigar Street is out of the Deputy Minister mare Arcadiana, a half-sister to legendary Champion and G1 winner Cigar. She is also a half-sister to Puerto Rican Champion Mulca and the dam of G3 winner Laura's Lucky Boy.
The only horse to win the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and G1 Kentucky Derby, Street Sense's top runners include G2 winner and undefeated Unlimited Budget, who is on track for the G1 Kentucky Oaks this year. The son of Street Cry has also sired Graded Stakes winners Castaway, Motor City, and Aubby K - a recent impressive winner of the G2 Inside Information Stakes.
