Admire Moon sired his 12th individual winner on Saturday October 29, when his son Archimedes landed the Newcomers race at Kyoto. Racing for the first time in this 2000m-turf contest, the well-regarded Hideaki Fujiwara trained colt won by three-quarters-of-a-length.
Bred by Darley, he is out of the Seeking The Gold mare Archeology, a half-sister to G1-winner Sky Mesa. Archeology also has a colt foal by fellow Darley Japan stallion Pyro, and is in foal again to him this season.
Three races later on the card, Archimedes paternal half-brother Snowdon notched his second successive victory when taking the Hagi Stakes, an 1800m Open class race run on the turf.
Admire Moon, Japan’s horse of the year and triple G1-winner, has now sired 12 individual winners. Amongst those are the unbeaten G3-winner Fine Choice, Leo Active, a fine third in the Listed Dahlia Sho at Niigata, and number of impressive Maiden winners including Golden Moon, Lorbeerkranz and Red Irving. With an A.E.I. of 2.56 for his juveniles, Admire Moon beats all other two-year-old sires this season.
