Sagaroi, a three-year-old son of King’s Best, won his third straight race and first in Stakes company on Saturday 28 May when landing the Derby du Midi at Bordeaux-Le Bouscat. Run over a mile-and-a-half, the lightly-raced colt succeeded by a length.
Bred by Christopher Mahoney, Sagaroi is out of the winning Linamix mare Saga d’Ouilly and from the family of top performers Sagamix, Sagacity, Sageburg, Secret Gesture and Sagawara.
Now the sire of 59 individual Stakes winners, King’s Best, whose first Japanese-bred crop are two-year-olds this season, has sired numerous top-flight scorers including Eishin Flash, Workforce and Creachadoir.
