Jenny too hasty for rivals
Three-year-old Hard Spun filly Spinning Jenny became the 24th Stakes winner for her sire with a hard-fought victory in the Listed Strutt Stakes over 2100m at Hobart, Australia, February 14.
After jumping well and racing on the speed, Spinning Jenny fought off several challengers in the straight to record a narrow victory.
Bred by Rick Jamieson at Gilgai Farm, Spinning Jenny is the first Stakes winner for G2-placed Brief Truce mare Suraya who is also the dam of the Listed-placed Philda. Soorena, another daughter of Suraya is the dam of G2 winner Phillipi as well as the highly-promising three-year-old Street Boss colt The Quarterback.
Now the sire of 24 Stakes winners, Hard Spun is the sire of G1 winners Zo Impressive and Questing and arrived today to stand his first season at Darley Japan.
