Challenge Stakes to Spin da Wheels
Having previously won four from 12 with a further five placed effort, three-year-old Hard Spun gelding Spin da Wheels stepped up to Stakes class for the first time, claiming the Listed Magic Millions Yearling Challenge Stakes at Ascot, Australia on February 15.
Settling a few lengths from the leading division, the Michael Lane ridden galloper came to the outside just after the field headed for home, and under hands and heels riding, jockey Peter Hall let the gelding pull himself to the leaders before surging away to record an impressive length victory, being eased down on the line.
Bred and raced by Canal Enterprise Syndicate, Spin da Wheels is the lone foal to race from the Speed Week mare Miss Ducati. From the family of Stakes winners Sweet Delight, Lago Delight and Tycoon Ruler, Miss Ducati returned back to Hard Spun in the most recent southern hemisphere breeding season.
As the sire of 25 Stakes winners highlighted by G1 winners Zo Impressive and Questing, Hard Spun has recently arrived in Japan to stand his first northern hemisphere season at Darley Japan.
